Education & Career Beginnings
What did you study at university, and what drew you to that course?
I studied Construction, Engineering & Management. I chose this course because the construction sector was thriving at the time, and I’ve always been fascinated by how structures come together. I wanted to be part of an industry that shapes the built environment and offers the opportunity to see tangible results from your work.
Did you always know you wanted to work in this field? Why or why not?
I was always drawn to the construction sector because it allows you to turn plans and ideas into reality. It’s a unique field that combines engineering problem-solving with project leadership. This balance really appealed to me, as it lets you contribute to both the technical and managerial aspects of a project.
Starting with MTM Engineering
What was your first impression of MTM when you joined?
My first impression was how welcoming and supportive everyone was. That made it easy to settle in quickly. The positive team culture and collaborative environment have made the journey enjoyable from the start.
What attracted you to MTM Engineering over other companies?
MTM Engineering has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality work on large-scale projects across Europe and beyond. I also knew some of the team before joining, and it was clear that MTM prioritises employee development. That commitment made MTM stand out as a company where I could grow both technically and professionally.
Day-to-Day Life & Learning
What does a typical day look like for you in your role?
As a Junior Project Manager, a typical day involves coordinating with site teams across various projects to ensure milestones are met on time and within budget. I attend meetings, track progress, plan labour and resources, and manage project documentation. I’m also gaining hands-on experience in the complex installation of electrical systems within data centres.
What kind of projects are you working on now, and what excites you about them?
What skills have you developed since starting, and how did MTM Engineering support that growth?

How has the role challenged or surprised you?
The role has pushed me to adapt quickly to fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. One surprise was the level of trust and responsibility I was given early on. That confidence in me helped build my own confidence and skills as a Junior Project Manager.
Company Culture & Team
What has your experience been like working with your team or manager?
It’s been excellent. Both my managers and the site teams have been supportive and approachable. Starting a new role can be daunting, but from day one, I felt welcomed. It’s been a pleasure to be part of such a collaborative and positive company culture.
Do you feel like your input is valued? How so?
Absolutely. My input is always welcomed, regardless of my experience level. I’m encouraged to share ideas and take initiative, which has helped me grow and feel like a valued part of the team.
Broader Perspective & Advice
What’s been the biggest highlight of your career so far?
One of the biggest highlights was being trusted to manage my own projects in Milan and Frankfurt, including leading a site team. Although I still had support when needed, being given that level of responsibility gave me a strong sense of ownership and achievement.
What advice would you give to other recent graduates considering a role like yours?
Be open to learning, stay proactive, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Embrace the challenges—they’re what help you grow. Also, make the most of the experience and knowledge shared by more senior team members.
How do you see your career progressing with MTM?
I see myself taking on increased responsibility in larger projects, supported by continued mentorship and development. I’m aiming to grow into more senior project management roles as my experience builds.
Travel & Opportunities
Have you had the chance to travel for work? If so, what was that experience like?
Yes, I’ve had the opportunity to travel extensively in my first year with MTM. I’ve worked in England, Germany, Italy, and Finland. It’s been a fantastic experience adapting to different working environments and cultures while broadening my professional perspective.
What does the international side of your role look like?
Working internationally involves coordinating with diverse teams and adapting to varying client requirements and local regulations. It means managing logistics, timelines, and communication across borders. While it can be challenging, it adds a dynamic and rewarding dimension to the role.
