MTM Engineering has an exciting apprenticeship opportunity for a self-motivated, and ambitious individual with an interest in Quantity Surveying.  This apprenticeship serves as an exciting first step into the field of quantity surveying, providing a unique chance to join a leading Electrical Engineering Company.

The Role...

You will have the opportunity to oversee commercial tracking and budgets throughout each project. Your focus will be on honing your skills in negotiating contracts and prices, assess, evaluating, and managing construction projects to ensure the best value for money and quality.  This apprenticeship will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of life cycle costing, cost planning, procurement and tendering, contract administration, and commercial management.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities...

Your responsibilities will include: ​

• Liaise with the project management team to select suitable sub-contractors.

• Liaise with the Contact managers to update weekly take offs, dayworks and timesheets.

• Value, certify and issue any relevant payment notices for the subcontract works in accordance with the conditions of their subcontract.

• Manage and control any variations on site and agree with the client accordingly.

• Produce valuations for each project, submitting them for the Commercial Manager to approve.

• Assisting to follow up contract documents, ensuring they are acceptable and signed also.

• Review contractual documentation for items such as the price, delivery period, payment terms,

• Perform financial analysis of construction projects, to ensure that projects remain within budget, and that all payments from clients are directed to subcontractors in an efficient manner.

• Ready commercially sensitive information for the commercial manager to assist with Final accounts, cash flow forecasting and project analysis.

• Assist estimating with measuring and formatting tender returns.

• Report to Commercial manager and senior surveyors.
   

This role may also require you to assist the CM’s and Estimating teams with their workload as the need arises.

Essential Qualifications...

• Minimum 48 UCAS points achieved through A Levels, or equivalent

• Minimum 15 points at GCSE, or equivalent. This must include a C grade in GCSE English language and a C grade in GCSE Maths, or equivalent

• Competent in written and spoken English Language
